Killing the Beast of Pornography

by Flame (Christian Rap Artist)

I write to you with deep concern and compassion. I recognize that this will be a fight over time for those who struggle in this area. If you do not struggle in this area, I recommend that you stay clear of it.

The first thing I want to encourage you with is that God has not left us alone in this area. He has given us the Holy Spirit and a new nature to help us combat this temptation. Our responsibility is to fight and trust God. We do this by disciplining our bodies and bringing it into submission (1 Cor. 9:27).

The Bible tells us that “No temptation has over taken you except such as is common to man, but God is faithful who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it” (1 Cor. 10:13). So don’t fret my friend, God has already made us free from this bondage to pornography and has made us slaves to Him (Rom. 6:22).

Be encouraged my brothers and sisters you can defeat this!

TIPS:
  • Pray fervently.
James 5:16 says, “…the effective fervent prayer of a righteous man avails [accomplishes] much.
  • Read scripture daily.
Psalm 119:9 says, “How can a young man keep his way pure? By taking heed according to Your word.
  • Get accountability!
Find at least one person you can trust to confess your struggles to. James 5:16 says, “Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed...” It is important to confess both your successes and failures.
  • Set daily and weekly goals for abstaining from pornography.
Take it one day at a time.
  • Avoid T.V. shows, movies, music or any other media that has sexual content if possible.
  • Don’t condemn yourself if you fail.
Romans 8:1 says, “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.” Pray and repent and continue walking according to the Spirit. Don’t give up!
