As if Galatians and Ephesians have not made it clear enough already, believers in Christ Jesus—both Old and New Testament saints—are God's chosen people. Not Israel! Romans 9:8 makes a pretty clear statement that "it is not the children of the flesh who are children of God, but the children of the promise are regarded as descendants." Galatians 3:26 and 29 continue by stating, "For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. ... And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise." Peter states as crystal clear as it can get in 1 Peter 2:9-10, "But you are A CHOSEN RACE, A royal PRIESTHOOD, A HOLY NATION, A PEOPLE FOR God's OWN POSSESSION, that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; for you once were NOT A PEOPLE, but now you are THE PEOPLE OF GOD; you had NOT RECEIVED MERCY, but now you have RECEIVED MERCY." These statements are made directly to and about Christians! Everything Peter quotes or alludes to from the Old Testament were promised to or spoken about Israel, yet Peter quotes them for and applies them to the Church. The Church—the one body of Christ Jesus—consists of both Old and New Testament saints. All who have the faith of Abraham are God's chosen people.
Let us take a look at what the New Testament has to say about the terms "children of God," "people of God," and "sons of God."
CHILDREN OF GOD

Every single one of the above verses, with the exception of Hebrews 11:25, are speaking directly to and about believers in Christ Jesus—Christians; the Church; the one body of Christ; the bride of Christ, which is made up of Old and New Testament saints, Jew and Gentile alike. "[God the Father] chose us in [Christ Jesus] before the foundation of the world..."(Eph. 1:4). We, believers, are God's chosen people.
