To the lame man at the pool called Bethesda, Jesus said, "Sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee" (John 5:14). To the woman caught in adultery, Jesus said, "Go, and sin no more" (John 8:11). What could be worse than being stoned in this life? Being separated from
the presence of God for eternity. We do not stone disobedient children
any more because they would have no opportunity to repent. Likewise, we
do not stone adulterers, fornicators, homosexuals, or anybody else any more because they, too, would have no
opportunity to repent.
